Renowned for his contributions to Nepali films, he is considered one of the finest filmmakers in the industry. Ghimire is particularly known for his romantic and masala films that delve into the social issues of Nepali society, portraying profound human emotions. Some of his notable works include iconic Nepali films such as Kusume Rumal, Deuta, Laure, Chino, Dakshina, Balidan, and Darpan Chaya. During the 1990s, a significant number of his movies achieved blockbuster status, with Kusume Rumal and Darpan Chaya emerging as the highest-grossing Nepali films of all time.
